Coleslaw is one of those salads that are super easy to make and is a Summertime favorite.

By changing the dressing, you can make a few different flavors like this classic, apple or sriracha versions.

This Asian Slaw retains a satisfying crunch, while the dressing infused with hints of sesame oil, rice vinegar, and a touch of sugar adds a smooth, savory depth balanced by a hint of sweetness.

Salads like this one deliver a delicious blend of textures and flavors, making it the perfect side dish for grilled meats, stir-fries, or Asian-inspired sandwiches. ~Enjoy!

Suggested Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Salad Spinner
  • Whisk
  • Serving Bowl

Ingredients Needed

To make this recipe you're going to need the following ingredients:

Cabbage Mix: You can use a bag of cabbage mix like I did for ease or use fresh cabbage mixed with peeled carrots. The mix generally has carrots in it already along with a mix of white and red cabbage; which gives this salad beautiful contrasting colors.

Rice Wine Vinegar

Honey

Mayonnaise

Dijon Mustard

Sesame Oil

Granulated Sugar

Kosher Salt

Chopped Scallions (optional garnish)

If using a regular head of cabbage you'll need to also add some peeled carrots to the mix.

How do you make Asian Style Coleslaw?

Start by adding the cabbage mix to a salad spinner, rinse in cold water; then spin dry and add to a mixing bowl.

In a separate smaller bowl, combine the vinegar, honey, mayonnaise, mustard, oil, sugar and salt; then whisk until smooth.

Add the dressing to the cabbage mix; then toss to coat. Place the mixture in a serving bowl and garnish with chopped scallions. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, but best overnight so that the cabbage softens a bit.
