Fresh green beans tossed with fresh garlic, soy sauce and a light oil; then roasted until tender make a delicious side dish to any Asian style meal.
This recipe for Soy Sauce Roasted Green Beans is an oldie, but goodie and I first shared it back in May 2012. The picture isn't the best, but it's one of those simple recipes that goes with just about any meal, so I wanted to share it again.
When I make dinner, it generally has some sort of theme or at least similar flavors. If I'm making something with lemon, then my side dish and vegetables generally contain lemon as well.
Such is the case when I made this recipe for Cashew Chicken with Sesame Garlic Sauce a while ago and wanted a vegetable to go with it. These roasted green beans were perfect!
I love to roast my vegetables, it really gives them an extra sweet flavor. Two of my favorites are these Rosemary Roasted Carrots and these simple Sea Salt Roasted Green Beans.
How do you make Soy Sauce Roasted Green Beans?
To make this recipe you'll need fresh green beans, garlic, soy sauce, Canola or another light oil and fresh ground black pepper. When roasting vegetables I recommend using fresh versus canned or frozen because then they will literally turn to mush.
I also used low sodium soy sauce and omitted salt from this recipe because soy sauce in general is very salty. Start by trimming the edges of the beans, rinse them under cold water, drain; then add them to a bowl. Next, add the minced garlic, soy sauce, oil and pepper; mix well.
Place the green beans on a baking sheet and roast in a 425 degree F preheated oven for about 15 minutes; tossing halfway through. This recipe for Soy Sauce Roasted Green Beans serves four and tastes great with any Asian style meal.
You can try it with other fresh vegetables like asparagus or broccoli too. ~Enjoy!
