Have you ever made donuts out of refrigerator biscuits? Whether it's a morning treat or a decadent dessert, these donuts are perfect for any occasion.

I've made homemade old fashioned donuts before, but never tried making donuts with refrigerator biscuits. I was pleasantly surprised.

These donuts are tasty and super quick and easy to make; especially for those last minute cravings! The honey butter flavor gave these donuts that extra sweet, buttery flavor.

Suggested Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Bowl
  • Deep Fry Thermometer
  • Slotted Spoon
  • Cooling rack

Ingredients Needed

To make these donuts you're going to need the following ingredients:

Refrigerated Honey Butter Flaky Biscuits: I used Honey Butter Grands Biscuits, but you can use any flavor they have.

Canola Oil

Granulated Sugar

Ground Cinnamon

How do you make Honey Butter Donuts?

Start by heating the oil over medium-high heat in a medium saucepan. You'll want to add a few inches to the pot so that the oil will cover the donuts when placed inside.

Heat the oil until it reaches at least 350 degrees F. Another test is to add ONE small drop of water to the oil, if it pops the oil is hot enough.

In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon; set aside.

Remove the biscuits from the container; then poke a hole in the middle forming a donut shape. Repeat for all 8 biscuits.

Gently add all the donuts to the hot oil and fry 2 minutes per side or until each side is lightly browned and the dough has "puffed up". You may need to do this in two batches.

Remove the donuts from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on plate lined with paper towels. Dip each donut into the sugar mixture; then place on a rack to cool slightly.

Eat these honey butter donuts immediately as they will not store well.
