Everyone has their own way of making Chicken Normandy, but have you ever tried it with pork chops? I personally think it tastes even better! What's better than the combination of pork chops and apples, right?

It's officially Fall, my favorite time of year. Apples and Pumpkins. The turning leaves. Cool crisp weather. Bonfires. Football games.

Skillet Normandy Pork Chops

So I wanted to share a new recipe that was:

a. Simple to make

b. Quick

c. Uses one pan (or skillet)

Success! It is a little different than the original recipe, but that's what makes cooking so much fun. You can use ingredients that your family likes to make something that tastes similar, yet a little bit different.

This recipe takes 30 minutes to make; which makes it a delicious, quick weeknight meal.

How do you make Normandy Pork Chops?

For this recipe you'll need boneless pork chops, butter, garlic, scallions, apples, ground thyme, apple cider, white wine, heavy cream and Swiss cheese. I used McIntosh apples and a sweet Moscato wine in this recipe.

Start by heating some butter in a large, oven proof skillet over medium-high heat; then add the pork chops. Brown the chops on each side until they're golden.

My pork chops were approximately 6-ounces each and took about 3 minutes per side. Cooking time may be adjusted slightly depending on the thickness of your pork chops.

They may still be a little pink inside, but will finish cooking in the oven. Next, core, peel and slice the apples into wedges and add them to the pan along with the garlic and scallions; then sauté for 2 minutes.

In a small bowl combine the thyme, apple cider, wine and heavy cream and whisk together.

Add the mixture to the skillet, making sure to coat the pork chops. Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese over the top of the pork chops and place the entire skillet in a preheated 425 degree F oven.

Cook for 15-20 minutes until the cheese has melted. CAREFULLY (using a pot holder!) remove the pan from the oven.

My family LOVED these Normandy Pork Chops. They were so tender and deliciously flavorful! We served ours with homemade applesauce, maple roasted baby carrots and apple bread stuffing. ~Enjoy!
