Crown Royal is a blended Canadian whiskey and the men on both sides of our family love it; especially during the holidays. It's a little too strong for my taste.

However, when I first made this recipe back in 2011 my family loved this recipe so much that I make it every Thanksgiving.

Crown Royal Mashed Sweet Potatoes

I'm not sure why I make these potatoes so infrequently throughout the year. They're AH-MAZING!!! Maybe it's because I do associate them with being for a special occasion; however they're so simple to make, I think I'm going to start making them more often.

How do you make Crown Royal Mashed Sweet Potatoes?

For this recipe, you'll need fresh sweet potatoes, Crown Royal whiskey, butter, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon and a little salt. I prefer to use fresh sweet potatoes and cook them myself instead of the canned variety.

Mainly because they're packed in syrup and super sweet. They can also be called yams, but they're really the same thing.

Sweet potatoes come in many different colors. The skin can be white, yellow, red, purple or brown, and the flesh can be white, yellow, orange or purple.

I made these breakfast potatoes a few years back and though the picture is pretty bad, they were really good; though a bit sweeter than the orange flesh sweet potato I'm used to.

Start by peeling your sweet potatoes; then cut them into 2-inch pieces. Place them in a pot; then add cold water. Bring them to a boil and cook the potatoes until they are fork tender; approximately 15-20 minutes depending on the size.

Drain the water; then add the remaining ingredients to the pan. Blend together with an electric mixer; which makes the potatoes extra creamy.

See, I told you these Crown Royal Mashed Sweet Potatoes were easy to make! Add them to your weekly side dish dinner rotation or save them for holiday get-togethers. Either way, your family is going to love them. ~Enjoy!
