Utilize leftover Italian bread to make a deliciously flavorful breakfast with this super easy Cinnamon French Toast Casserole.

Breakfast casseroles are the perfect way to feed a crowd; especially during the holiday season. All you have to do it prep them the night before, refrigerate overnight; then bake in the morning.

This casserole tastes just like french toast without all of that time spent dipping into an egg mixture; then frying. My family loves french toast, but by the time you get to the last piece, the rest of them get cold and have to be reheated before serving.

With this Cinnamon French Toast Casserole, you just add all of the ingredients at once, bake and serve while it's piping hot. ~Enjoy!

Suggested Equipment

  • Bread Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • 2-Quart Baking Dish

Ingredients Needed

To make this breakfast casserole you're going to need the following ingredients:

Italian Bread: The bread will be diced into bite-sized pieces and you can use any loaf bread including ciabatta or french bread in this recipe.

Large Eggs

Heavy Cream: You can substitute any milk or non-milk derivative in this recipe including half & half, regular milk or almond milk.

Light Brown Sugar

Ground Cinnamon

Melted Butter: This is to coat the bottom of the baking dish so you can just add the amount to the dish; then microwave and heat for 20-30 seconds.

Garnishes: You can garnish with maple syrup or confectioner's sugar before serving.

How do you make Cinnamon French Toast Casserole?

In a large bowl, add the eggs, heavy cream, brown sugar and cinnamon; then whisk until smooth.

Cut the bread into bite sized pieces; then place in a mixing bowl and toss to coat all of the bread with the egg mixture. Add the melted butter to the bottom of the baking dish and swirl to coat the bottom and sides.

Add the bread mixture to the baking dish; then place in the refrigerator up to 4 hours but preferably overnight. When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F while you bring the casserole to room temperature.

Bake in the oven for approximately 45 minutes or until there is no liquid in the dish and the casserole is firm and puffed up.

Drizzle with maple syrup or confectioners sugar and serve immediately.
