Grilling season is coming and these Grilled Chicken Burgers topped with avocado and copycat Chick-Fil-A Sauce are sure to please everyone.
The closest fast food chain, Chick-Fil-A is about 20 miles away; though in Jersey speak, it's roughly 40 minutes. With all of those north Jersey highways and malls it's practically impossible to get to Bergen county without any traffic (unless it's on Sunday).
It's too far out of the way to go just for fast food; which we rarely eat anyway, but my girls love their sauce. On our recent drive back from Florida during our college tours and Spring Break, we stopped there to grab lunch.
When I went in my daughter requested that I get extra sauce for her chicken nuggets. I got their grilled chicken sandwich and put some of the sauce on top and it was surprisingly good.
She made me promise that I would try to copy their bbq sauce recipe when I got home. About a week later, I had taken ground chicken out for dinner and decided to make Grilled Chicken Burgers with this sauce to go with it.
If it tasted good on regular grilled chicken breast, I'm sure it would taste good on burgers too right?
I started looking online for recipes and found a few, but the one I liked best just had two ingredients: BBQ Sauce and Honey Mustard Dressing. That seemed easy enough!
How do you make grilled chicken burgers?
Chicken burgers in general tend to be a little dry; especially since I always buy the one with the leanest fat content. That's why when I make burgers with ground chicken, I add just a little EVOO to help keep it moist.
I also added some garlic powder, paprika and parsley to give them a little flavor. I wanted to keep my burgers simple since their sauce has a strong flavor to begin with.
Once I mixed all of the ingredients together, I formed four burgers; then grilled them until they were cooked through (approximately 10-12 minutes).
How do you make the Chick-Fil-A copycat sauce recipe?
While the burgers were cooking, I combined Honey Mustard Dressing and Honey BBQ Sauce (both brands were by Sweet Baby Rays).
That's all you need to make the Chick-Fil-A sauce recipe. It's pretty simple right? And the flavor is so close to the original!
To assemble your Grilled Chicken Burgers, place some of the sauce on the top and bottom of your hard roll; then add the burger and top with your favorite toppings like sliced avocado, lettuce and/or tomatoes.
I have to say that in a pinch, this Grilled Chicken Burger was pretty darn good and very close to the restaurant version of this recipe. ~Enjoy!
