Deviled Chicken Thighs covered in a mixture of butter, spicy mustard, vinegar, cayenne pepper, salt and breadcrumbs; then baked until crispy and golden brown.

A dish of Baked Deviled Chicken thighs

If you're a fan of deviled eggs, these Baked Deviled Chicken Thighs will be a new family favorite during the week as well. I mean who doesn't love a meal that is so easy to make. Especially when you're busy and the last thing you want to think about is making dinner.

A few years ago I found a recipe in an old cookbook for Delmonico Deviled Chicken. It was one of the cookbooks that my father in law gave me that he had saved from back in the 1970's.

I've mentioned before that I often make chicken thighs for dinner because they're so versatile. Some of our favorites are Balsamic Apricot Chicken Thighs, Ranch Chicken Thighs and Sheet Pan Oregano Chicken. This recipe for Deviled Chicken Thighs is right up there on the list now as well!

Why does the term "Deviled" mean when used in cooking?

The word "Deviled" originally meant to prepare something that had a lot of spicy condiments and seasonings. The term goes back to the 1700's and is most commonly associated with recipes that contain mustard and cayenne pepper.
