Summer is bbq season here in NJ and though we don't eat them often, there's nothing better than a juicy burger hot off the grill. By adding bbq sauce and mushrooms, it adds another layer of flavor.

Cheeseburgers are great for quick weeknight meals or weekend cookouts. Pair them with your favorite salad like potato, macaroni, coleslaw or corn on the cob and you have a complete meal. ~Enjoy!

Suggested Equipment

  • Small Nonstick Skillet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Grill (outdoor is best, but you can also use an indoor grill pan)

Ingredients Needed

To make this recipe you're going to need the following ingredients:

Ground Beef: You can use any lean/fat ratio

Sliced Mushrooms

Butter

Scallions

BBQ Sauce: Our preference is a honey bbq sauce, but you can use any brand you like or even homemade.

Slices of Cheese: Use your favorite cheese, I used Cheddar.

Hamburger Rolls: Or any hard roll

How do you make BBQ Mushroom Cheeseburgers?

Melt the butter in a small nonstick skillet; then add mushrooms and scallions. Cook until the mushrooms have softened; approximately 3-5 minutes.

Add the mushroom mixture to a bowl; then add the ground beef and barbecue sauce. Mix well until well blended; then form into four hamburger patties.

Heat the grill to medium high heat; then grill to desired doneness. Just before the meat is finished, add a slice of cheese until melted.

Place the cheeseburger on a hard roll, add extra barbecue sauce to the bread and any toppings you wish.
