This homemade coffee cake made with fresh blueberries and cream cheese is super moist and makes the perfect snack.
Growing up in NJ, coffee cake or crumb cake, was one of those items we would only get from the local bakery. Not because it was hard to make, it was just a special treat to eat sparingly.
Both cakes are basically the same except for the amount of crumbs on top. A true crumb cake is loaded with thick, dense crumbs and little cake; whereas coffee cake is more cake and less crumbs.
My family loves this recipe for original coffee cake and even the apple coffee cake, but being that blueberries are in season, why not try something new!
This Blueberry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake was deliciously moist and went perfectly with a cup of coffee. Serve alone as a snack or as an added menu item on your breakfast or brunch table. ~Enjoy!

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix together; then fold in half of the blueberries. Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan; then sprinkle with the remaining blueberries.
To make the topping, combine the flour, sugar and melted butter in a bowl; then drop small amounts on top of the blueberries until all of the topping is used and the blueberries are covered.
Place the pan in the oven and cook for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove the oven and allow to cool before cutting into squares.
