 Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

One of my favorite treats from the ice cream man when I was a kid was the orange creamsicle. I couldn't tell you the last time I had one as I'm not really a fan of anything flavored orange any longer.

But one afternoon I was craving a smoothie and had a lonely orange laying around; so I decided to make this Orange Creamsicle Smoothie.

Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

As a kid, I remember that it was always a toss up between the bomb pop, strawberry shortcake or orange creamsicle whenever that ice cream truck came down the street.

Of course, I'm talking about when I was 8 years old as you can tell by my super sweet, sugary selections. When I got older, my friend and I used to visit my grandparents who lived down the Jersey shore.

We would go to the beach; then head back to their house for some penny poker and the alcoholic version of the creamsicle. We had a lot of laughs for sure!

I recently got to thinking about my grandmother who passed away a year and a half ago and decided to make an Orange Creamsicle Smoothie in her memory.

How do you make an Orange Creamsicle Smoothie?

For this recipe I used fresh oranges, plain Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, flaxseed meal and ice. All you have to do is blend everything together in a blender and it's ready in less than 5 minutes.

This smoothie was deliciously creamy and tasted just like how I remember an Orange Creamsicle. By adding the flaxseed, it also had more fiber which helps to fill you up so it's perfect for breakfast or an afternoon pick me up. ~Enjoy!
