One of my favorite treats from the ice cream man when I was a kid was the orange creamsicle and I couldn’t tell you the last time I had one as I’m not really a fan of anything flavored orange any longer.
But one afternoon I was craving a smoothie and had a lone orange laying around so I decided to make this Orange Creamsicle Smoothie.
As a kid, I remember that it was always a toss up between the bomb pop, strawberry shortcake or orange creamsicle whenever that ice cream truck came down the street. Of course, I’m talking about when I was 8 years old as you can tell by my super sweet, sugary selections.
When I got older (and of drinking age), my friend and I used to visit my grandparents who lived down the shore (the beach for all of you non-Jersey readers) where we would play penny poker and drink an alcoholic version of the creamsicle and had a lot of laughs.
I haven’t had either creamsicle varieties in years and I guess I just got to thinking about my grandmother who passed away a year and a half ago and decided to make an Orange Creamsicle Smoothie instead.
I used simple ingredients: orange, plain Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, flaxseed meal and ice. This Orange Creamsicle Smoothie was deliciously creamy and tasted just like how I remember an Orange Creamsicle. And by adding the flaxseed, it also had more fiber which helps to fill you up so it’s perfect for breakfast or an afternoon pick me up. ~Enjoy!

Orange Creamsicle Smoothie
- 1 Orange, peeled
- 4 oz . Plain Greek Yogurt (0% Fat )
- 1 tsp . Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp . Flaxseed Meal
- 1 c . Ice
- Place all ingredients together in a blender and pulse until smooth.
