- Mixing Bowls
- Baking Sheet
Ingredients Needed
Make sure to gather all these ingredients before you start baking to ensure a smooth and enjoyable baking experience.
Once you have everything ready, it's time to get started on making this delicious apple crumb tart! You're going to need the following ingredients:
- All Purpose Flour
- Granulated Sugar
- Salt: Regular iodized kitchen salt
- Butter: You'll want to cut the butter into small cubes. I used salted butter, but you can use unsalted.
- Apple Pie Filling: For other variations try blueberry or cherry filling!
- Confectioners Sugar
- Cooking Spray
Prepare the tart
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F; then spray the tart pan with cooking spray.
To prepare the crust for your apple pie tart, start by combining the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix them together until well combined.
Next, add the cold, small pieces of butter to the bowl. Using a pastry cutter or your hands, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 cup of the crumbs for the topping.
Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a tart pan. Make sure to evenly distribute the crust mixture; then add the pie filling and spread evenly to cover the crust.
Bake the Apple Pie Tart
Place the tart pan on top of a baking sheet; then bake for 15 minutes. This will protect your oven in case any filling happens to drip out.
Add the 1 cup of remaining crumb topping to the apples; then bake for another 15 minutes or until the crumbs are light brown and the sides are bubbling. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Serving the Tart
Sprinkle the top with confectioners sugar, remove the tart from the pan by lifting the center from the sides; then cut into 10 slices. You can serve warm or cold alone or with your favorite ice cream.
Storage
You can store this apple tart covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
