Collage Honey Brown Sugar Carrots

These simple to make Honey Brown Sugar Carrots are made with four ingredients in about 20 minutes. The perfect side dish to any meal!

Honey Brown Sugar Carrots

Fresh carrots are one of my families favorite vegetables so we tend to eat them at least once a week.

When thinking about what vegetable I was going to serve with our Easter ham, I realized I hadn't shared this recipe for these Honey Brown Sugar Carrots.

Which is odd, because I've made them for years! Glazed carrots are so simple to make, are ready in about 20 minutes and you can make them ahead of time; then reheat when ready to serve.

What I love about this recipe is that you only need one pot; so less mess to clean up!

Equipment

  • Double Boiler Vegetable Steamer Pot
  • Wooden spoon

Honey Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

Ingredients Needed

  • baby carrots
  • butter
  • honey
  • light brown sugar
  • kosher salt
  • black pepper

I chose to use baby carrots, but you can use whole carrots that have been peeled and cut into 3-inch pieces.

How do you make Honey Brown Sugar Carrots?

Add the carrots to the perforated steamer portion of the pot, place the bottom of the pot underneath.

Rinse the carrots under cold water allowing the water to drain through to the bottom pot. Stop when there is about 2 cups of water in the bottom pot; just enough to steam the vegetables.

Place the pot on top of the stove, cover with a lid and cook on high for approximately 10 minutes until the carrots are fork tender.

Drain the water from the bottom pot; then place the cooked carrots from the top pot into the bottom.

Add the butter, honey, sugar, salt and pepper to the pot, turn the heat on low; then toss to coat the carrots with a spoon for 3-4 minutes until the butter has melted and the sugar has dissolved.

Reheating Instructions

You can make these glazed carrots up to one day ahead of time; then keep them stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

To reheat you can either:

  1. Place the carrots back into a small pot and add 2 tablespoons of water. Cover the pot; then cook over medium high heat until the carrots are hot.
  2. Place the carrots in a microwave safe dish and cook 1-2 minutes until hot.

Serving Suggestions

These Honey Brown Sugar Carrots go with just about any main meal. Some of our favorites include:

Pork: Honey Pecan Pork Chops, Honey Roasted Garlic Grilled Pork Chops or Honey Balsamic Pork Loin

Chicken/Turkey: Chicken Balsamico, Turkey Kiev, BBQ Cheddar Chicken Meatloaf or Chicken Francaise

Beef: Honey Dijon Marinated London Broil, Vegetable Meatloaf or Parmesan Encrusted Roast Beef

These glazed Honey Brown Sugar Carrots are delicious and super easy to make. ~Enjoy!
