Thinly sliced roast beef, topped with fresh Mozzarella cheese and brown gravy on top of a slider roll garnished with a buttery, Everything Bagel seasoning.
Graduation season is almost upon us and whether you'll be celebrating your college grad, a Kindergarten promotion or anything in between; these Roast Beef Sliders with Brown Gravy will be a tasty addition to your celebration.
We have one daughter that has already graduated from college (Penn State 2018) and one that is finishing up her Sophomore year so we still have a little time.
But I remember that we had to start planning for a party this time of year since college graduations usually happen in the beginning of May. We opted for a backyard event with 100 of our closest family and friends.
I know. A little over the top; however, we have a very large family when you start counting all of the aunt, uncles and cousins!
Being that I'm a glutton for punishment; I also cooked for the entire event myself. We had a hot and cold buffet; which consisted of some of her favorites like Chicken Francaise, Penne alla Vodka and Marinated London Broil. Plus sandwiches and a plethora of salads and desserts.
Our youngest daughter happened to graduate high school during Covid (class of 2020) so we had to have two smaller gatherings for her.
One with immediate family and one with her friends; both hosted outside so everyone can spread out. For her friend party, I made mini cheeseburger sliders and some of their favorite hot hors d' oeuvres.
Then later on, I made mini Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese sandwiches on a bagel. They devoured them! Which brings me to these Roast Beef Sliders.
Since the cheeseburgers were such a hit, I wanted to make another slider recipe that would be perfect to serve for your next gathering.
What is a slider?
A slider is a miniature sandwich; which can be either hot or cold. It's usually around 2-inches across and the filling fits inside a small bun.
Some of our favorites are Irish Sliders, Grilled Chicken Parmesan Sliders and Greek Black Bean Sliders, but you can check out this post consisting of 20 Slider Recipes for more options!
These Roast Beef Sliders with Brown Gravy involve a few steps, but take less than 30 minutes from start to finish.
They were incredibly delicious and we couldn't get enough of them. I'm definitely keeping these sliders on my radar for our next party to serve to family and friends!
Equipment
Ingredients Needed
For this recipe you'll need the following ingredients:
Roast Beef Sliders
- thinly sliced roast beef
- sliced fresh Mozzarella cheese
- slider rolls
- prepared brown gravy
- prepared Everything Bagel topping
Brown Gravy
- butter
- all purpose flour
- beef broth
- gravy master
Everything Bagel Topping
- melted butter
- Everything Bagel Seasoning
I found that deli roast beef works best, but you can use leftover Sunday roast as well. It's just easier to bite into the slider if the meat is thinly sliced.
How do you make Roast Beef Sliders?
Start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees F; then follow the steps below.
Step 1. Make the Gravy
Add the butter to a small saucepan and melt over medium high heat. Add the flour, stir to form a roux; then add the beef broth and gravy master and whisk 2-3 minutes until the gravy has thickened and is smooth. Remove from heat; set aside.
Step 2. Make the Everything Bagel Topping
Combine the melted butter with the seasoning in a small bowl; set aside.
Step 3. Assemble the Sliders
Line up the slider rolls on the baking sheet; then cut them in half horizontally. Set the tops aside.
Add 2-ounces of roast beef to the bottom of the roll; then top each with 1-ounce of the fresh Mozzarella cheese. Repeat for all 6 rolls.
Place the sliders on the baking sheet; then cook 5 minutes until the cheese starts to melt. Remove from the oven; then drizzle the brown gravy on top of each sandwich.
Add the top of the roll to each slider; then brush with the buttery seasoning mixture. Place the pan back in the oven for another 5 minutes or until the cheese has fully melted and the tops of the buns are lightly toasted.
I suggest serving these Roast Beef Sliders immediately so the cheese is hot and oozing with the delicious brown gravy.
Party Instructions
If serving these sliders for a party, you can assemble (minus the gravy) up to a day ahead of time.
Keep the sliders refrigerated until you're ready to cook. Before cooking, remove the tops and follow the directions accordingly.
To keep warm during a party, place the cooked sliders in a covered steam table tray under lit sternos to keep warm until ready to serve.
